Yiddish Song KlezKamp Music

We have challenging and expansive offerings for everyone from singing-in-the-shower beginners to accomplished professionals.

Di Shererai/AM2 Josh Dolgin

If singing Yiddish songs is fun, then singing Yiddish songs in four-part harmony should be four times the fun. It’s just simple arithmetic. In this workshop, we will sing through some amazing close-harmony arrangements from the vast repertoire of Yiddish pop, theatre, Holocaust and folk songs written for mixed voices in the early 20th century. If you can read music, that makes life easier, but just having a good ear is a great start.

Vocal Master Class: Your Inner Yiddish Voice/PM1 Adrienne Cooper with Marilyn Lerner

Coaching for advanced students in polishing your performance of Yiddish song, working with varied accompaniments, finding an inner voice of beauty and authority.

Yiddish Hit Parade/PM2 Adrienne Cooper

25th Anniversary of KlezKampOver the past quarter century, KlezKamp has served to introduce quite a few previously unknown Yiddish songs to both singers and audiences. Join us as we remind ourselves of those songs and where they came from and sing them again. A repertoire class for all.

Jewish Life in Song/AM1 Susan Leviton

Dipping deep into our treasure trove of Yiddish songs, Susan offers a feast of cultural insights–each day a free-standing lecture/recital, covering songs of the immigrant experience, women’s lives, struggle and triumph, and spiritual yearning. No Yiddish or singing expertise is required. A rare experience of the history and potential of a capella singing, with each song set into context.

Yiddish for Singers/AM2 Paula Teitelbaum

This workshop examines the key pitfalls of Yiddish pronunciation and how to avoid them. Participants will also hear recordings illustrating the “do’s and don’ts.” Students should bring songs they are learning for review and practice in class.
